Abstract

Language is often the central element and touchstone of one’s identity. Linguistic rights have crucial importance
for national minorities. The protection of their fundamental rights and freedoms starts with linguistic rights.
Despite the remarkable progress, widely respected international legal norms are constantly being perfected, so
the state authorities should use specific language policies to assimilate minorities into the majority group. Hence,
it is important to clarify the issue of implementation-ratification of specific norms against the background of the
analysis of problem areas of ethnic minorities living in Georgia.
